Kazakhstan is building a unified digital ecosystem: AI, data centers and government services will be combined on one platform

Kazakhstan is accelerating digital transformation and moving from individual IT projects to a unified technological ecosystem. In the next three years, the country intends to strengthen the use of artificial intelligence in public administration, expand digital infrastructure and increase the export of IT services. By 2029, AI and automation should cover at least 40% of government services, Tech-news reports.

Kazakhstan is taking digitalization to a new level: instead of disparate services and regional projects, the state is forming a unified technological architecture that should connect government services, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, computing power, business and the personnel training system.

An additional impetus to this process in 2026 was given by the period declared as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence. One of the key priorities is the transition of government digital products to the QazTech platform. This year it is planned to transfer 39 information systems to it, ten of which are already running on the new infrastructure. At the same time, there is a moratorium on the creation of government systems outside of QazTech.

The next stage is eGov 3.0. Its AI component eGov GPT already covers 51 of the most popular government services, which account for about 30% of citizen requests. By the end of the year this figure is planned to increase to 70%.

At the same time, the National Artificial Intelligence Platform is being developed. It should combine computing resources, data, development tools and ready-made models. According to the government, AI assistants have already been used more than 2 million times, and there are over 50 AI agents in development.

To handle the growing volume of AI tasks, the country is developing its own computing infrastructure. It includes the national supercomputer cluster Alem.Cloud, ranked 86th in the TOP500 ranking, and the commercial supercomputer of Kazakhtelecom, ranked 103rd according to 2025 data.

Another major project will be the “Valley of Data Centers.” Its target capacity should be up to 1 GW. Potential demand already exceeds 500 MW, and a $10 billion agreement has been reached with Firebird.

For the future cluster, a direct connection to the Ekibastuz energy hub, backup international data transmission channels and a Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line are provided. Project participants are also promised special regulatory conditions and tax preferences.

Against this background, the domestic IT industry continues to grow. More than 2.5 thousand companies have already been united in Astana Hub. In the first quarter of 2026, the total revenue of its participants reached $907 million, and the export of IT services from Kazakhstan amounted to $241.2 million. More than 100 Kazakh startups entered foreign markets through international hubs. The first regional tech unicorn, Higgsfield.ai, emerged in 2025.
