The Progress MS-35 cargo ship departed from Baikonur to the International Space Station. Along with supplies for the crew, he is carrying equipment for an experiment with a remote-controlled robot. The launch of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket took place on September 16 at 16:34 Moscow time (18:34 Astana time) from the launch complex of the 31st pad. Roscosmos reported that the spacecraft entered its intended orbit normally, separated from the third stage of the rocket and deployed solar panels and antennas. What was sent to the ISS In total, Progress MS-35 will deliver more than 2.4 tons of cargo. These include 842 kg of fuel, 420 kg of water, 50 kg of oxygen, 275 kg of food, medicines, hygiene products, equipment and consumables for the operation of the station. A separate part of the cargo is intended for scientific experiments, including the Teledroid. The robot will be taught to work in space. As part of the experiment, astronauts will check whether an anthropomorphic robot can perform certain operations in outer space under remote control. To do this, a special cosmonaut’s workplace, an exoskeleton, was sent to the station. With its help, the operator will be able to control the movements of the robot. An astronaut was trained to work as an operator
Roscosmos Anna Kikina. The Teledroid itself will arrive at the ISS as the next cargo ship. During the experiment, the crew plans to test whether the robot will be able to take objects from storage, transfer the tool to the astronaut and perform various operations with it. The docking of Progress MS-35 with the Poisk module of the Russian segment of the station is scheduled for September 19 at 16:46 Moscow time. Earlier, Kursiv reported that Russia will pay Kazakhstan more than 55 billion tenge for the lease of Baikonur in 2027. And the day before, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Bakanov, stated that Kazakhstan’s initiative to transform Baikonur into an international space hub will not affect cooperation with Russia.
