In Kazakhstan, medical data is combined in a single Data Lake storage, and artificial intelligence is already used to call patients and manage appointments. In one of the clinics, this helped reduce no-shows by more than six times and reduce the wait for an appointment with a specialist from two weeks to two days, Tech-news reports.
Medical information systems in Kazakhstan are united into the e-Densaulyq ecosystem, and data from medical organizations is collected into a single Data Lake storage. At the same time, AI tools are being implemented in clinics to work with patients, preventive examinations and search for uninsured citizens.
According to Vice Minister of Health Erbol Ospanov, previously information about medical care was stored within separate medical organizations. Now they are combined into a Data Lake, which was launched on July 1.
AI is already being used to automatically call patients. Since July, the system has contacted more than 30 thousand people, of which over 3 thousand have undergone preventive examinations.
At the same time, the number of missed appointments has decreased markedly: the no-show rate has dropped from more than 30% to approximately 5%.
“The freed up time immediately becomes available to other patients,” noted Deputy Director for Strategic Development of City Clinic No. 10 of Almaty Akerke Dzhilkhaidarova.
According to her, automation has reduced the wait for an appointment with a specialist from two weeks to two days.
AI is also being used to target the uninsured. In just one clinic, after automated calls, over three months more than 700 patients signed up for health insurance.
