My name is David Andre and this is the ultimate Linux tutorial for the AI era. So, we've just entered the decade of Linux. Linux is taking over both as a personal operating system that people use as their main OS and it's also powering almost every single cloud agent. And despite being from 1991, people are switching to Linux in record numbers. So, in this video, I'll explain what Linux is, what is the best Linux distro for agents, and how you can run and host your entire business on a single Linux VPS, which will save you a lot of money. And by the way, you don't have to be technical to follow this. If you can understand English, you can do this. Real quick, we're hiring. I'm building a team in Warsaw, Poland. So, if you are technical, if you have YouTube experience, make sure to apply. The main role I need right now is a YouTube producer, but we're hiring other roles as well. The link is going to be below the video. All right, so here's why Linux actually matters. Currently, it runs 100% of the 500 biggest data centers and supercomputers in the world, aka all of them. And every single Android phone runs on the Linux kernel. So do most cloud servers, which means when your AI agent gets a computer, it's almost always Linux. And the operating system that agents know best and can control the easiest is Linux. So here's how Linux works quickly. You have the kernel, which is kind of the core of Linux. It runs every program and talks to the hardware directly. Then you have the shell. This is the surface area where you type commands ls, cd, pwb, all the commands, you know. Then another important paradigm is that everything is a text file. So agents can run it all with text. And that's why, for example, pi only has four tools. It doesn't need 20, 30, 40 different tools. If it can control the shell and run bash, it can do basically anything. Oh, and the creator of Linux himself, Linus Stoaltz, told the developers earlier this year in July that AI is clearly useful. Linus Stoaltz is one of the greatest programmers of all time, and he's actively using AI to find issues in the Linux kernel and to develop it. So, if Lionus is using AI to code, you should probably too. Now, here is where Linux compares to Windows, Mac OS, and itself, right? So, obviously, Windows was made by Microsoft. Mac OS by Apple and Linux is open source project. You know, it was created by Lionus Store, but it's been developed by everyone. It's one of the biggest, most known, most successful opensource projects of all time. So, the price obviously Windows you need to get a license. Mac comes with only Apple devices, but Linux is free. Anybody can run it on any device. The share of desktop users currently is 77% on Windows, 16% on Mac OS, and 6% on Linux. But this 6% is growing faster than ever. And thanks to projects like Omari, which we're going to touch on later in the video, share of websites though is over 63% are running Linux and are hosted on Linux. It's also the only one of these three that is open source. So basically to summarize it, it's free, it's open source, and it's the most configurable and changeable out of any of these, which obviously is great for AI agents. So as I already mentioned, agents just love Linux because in Linux, everything is plain text. The settings, the config, the logs, tools, and AI is best at text, right? Large language models, LLMs. That's why cloud agents, codex, cloud, cursor, cloud room, they all run on Linux. But you don't need to know Linux to use it. That's the beautiful part, right? In the past, you needed to know the basic commands and you needed to be quite technical to use Linux daily. Today, that's not the case at all. I know very little about Linux, but still, I'm using Linux every single day and I'm using it more and more thanks to my agents because you can just talk to your agent in plain English and it already knows what to do. So the beauty of this the second order consequence is that the smarter the models get the stronger Linux becomes and the stronger the argument for using Linux becomes. So now that we have Opus 5.5, GBD 6.1 Sol. The beauty of this is that it unlocks the amount of possibilities you can do, right? You can deploy everything on Linux, you can avoid overpriced platforms because you can just talk to your agent and tell it deploy it to my Linux server and as long as you have a single VPS, the agent can do all of that for you. And this replaces a lot of expenses and subscriptions that otherwise you would have to pay for, right? So front end vers netifi $20 a month plus easily. Back end railway render. Don't get me even started on the security issues. Like recently, I'm going to show this on screen. Railway had some very bad security issues mainly from reckless behavior. And if you have your own VPS also and you're self-hosting everything, you can just set up an agent loop to self-patch these in a matter of minutes, which a lot of these companies are not going to do. In the past, it used to be the case that yeah, you just host on one of these hosting companies and you know they're going to take care of everything and you're going to be secure. Today, if you're at the AI cutting edge, okay, if you know how to use AI, you have cloud agents, you have agent loops, you can actually protect yourself a lot more than by using some of these companies and, you know, lazily deploying your back, you know, front end on them because usually they take one or two days to patch these CVES when it's like a 9.8, 9.9, 10.0 CVSS. So, if you are locked in and if you just set up a single agent loop, you can patch these and catch these vulnerabilities in less than 5 minutes. You know, another thing you can get rid of is expenses automations, right? Zapier, make.com, all of these 20, $30 a month easily. Analytics, data dog, and other products. Like recently, I was using one of these. The expected monthly cost for me and for my businesses was $230 a month just for basically product data. And the moment I realized this, I was like, there's no way. I just told my agent to self-host click house on one of my VPSs and I instantly got rid of $230 expense. Another thing is like uptime monitoring, right? That's going to be 0 to $30 a month. All of that can be replaced with a [snorts] single VPS. With your own VPS, you're fully in charge. You can fix any security issue in minutes, not in weeks. And you can decide how your deployment works. You can just talk to your agent and he can host everything on a single VPS. And yes, it can handle a lot more traffic than you might think. So whether it's front end, backend, automations, chrome jobs, one Linux VPS can handle this all easily until you have tens of thousands of active users. So what I use for every single VPS I get is Hostinger. This is where all of my VPS run. This is what everyone on my team is using. So, let me show you just how easy it is to get your own VPS on Hostinger and how you can have Cloud Code just set up all of it for you. So, the first step is to go to this link. I'm just going to leave it below the video as the first link in the description. So, click that and as you can see, Hostinger is having a big sale for Black Friday. So, this is literally the best month of the year to buy a VPS if you don't have one. So, scroll down and select the VPS hosting. And I think the KVM2 plan is good for most things. So, just choose that plan. This will take you to the Hostinger card here. Select the period. I recommend going with 24 months because you get the highest discount. And if you want an even better deal, go to the right and click on have a coupon code and type in code David for additional 10% off. After that, just choose a server location, something close to you or close to your customers, and choose what to install. So here, obviously, we're going to go with Linux. In terms of the version, either select 24 or 264 LTS. These are the most stable ones, most recent ones. And then just click on continue here. log into your Hostinger account or if you don't have one just to create it takes 10 seconds and then the last step is putting your card in and filling out the checkout details. So step one is to buy the VPS. Once you do that, step two is the basic setup in Hostinger panel. So first, as I mentioned, go with the operating system, you can always change it here if you selected incorrect one or if you have a older VPS from Hostinger and you want to reset it, you can do that very easily here OS and panel. Next, we're going to give CL access. And this is where it gets interesting because once you give a powerful coding agent like Cloud Code or Codex root level access to your VPS, they can basically set up everything else for you. Let me just show you. So I'm going to jump into Cloud Room and I'm going to use Cloud Code with Opus 5.5 and I'm just going to tell it help me set up my VPS. That's it. Boom. I'm going to give a screenshot of my hostinger panel. So I just literally took a screenshot of this and attached it. And then you know instead of you having to do these steps, we're just going to have a close code do it. Let's go with SSH key so you can have root level access. Give me all the steps necessary to do that. And you just talk to your agent in plain English. This is the main lesson I want you to take away from this video. The reason why Linux is powerful is because all the agents have near infinite Linux training data inside of their corpus. Right on the web, there is so many examples of Linux commands and Linux documentation that all of that is included in the training data of these agents. So you can just talk to them in plain English like here and they tell you exactly what to do. So here it gave me the sh key. I'm just going to black that out. And the steps, right? So, I'm going to copy it. Boom. One click. Go to steps. Hostinger panel. So, here we need to go to settings and SSH keys. So, go to settings, sh keys, add SSH key. And then I'm going to paste that in. And literally, that's it. Click save in the bottom right. And SSH key is saved. So, now I can just tell the agent done. And close code will connect to the VPS and it can secure it. It can set up everything needed. Oh yeah, it's missing the IP. So, it's my bad. Go to overview and copy the IP address here and give it to it. Boom. Okay, good. So, it was just overthinking, but it's connected because what I did is basically I reset this VPS. So, it was saying like, "Oh, we already connected to it." Blah, blah, blah. If you have a new hosting VPS, you will not run into these issues. So, all it takes is the IP address right here and then the SSH key. And that's it. Cloud is connected now. So, now I can just say security now. Actually, Cloud Room is predicting that as my next prompt. So, I'm just going to do it. I don't even know all the things it's going to do. I just know that Opus 5.5 is a much better developer than basically any human out there, like 99.99% of programmers. So, I'm just going to trust it by securing the VPS. If you're using the latest entropic model or the latest OpenAI model, then you can be moving as fast as this. Basically delegating everything to that AI agent and it will be secure because these models are super human at software development. There you go. Two and a half minutes later, the VPS is secured, updates, everything is up to date. firewall only SSH and web traffic, password logging off, brute force protection. You would have to hire a DevOps expert or someone who just knows Linux in the past. Now you just ask one or two prompts to Obusen 5 and he can do it for you. And later in the video, I'll show you exactly the same thing with deploying a full stack app front end, back end, product analytics, anything you might imagine, you can host it on a VPS. So we gave Cloud access, we gave it the SH key and we did lock it down. Now let's talk about Linux distros and commands. What is a distro and how the big ones compare? how Ubuntu compares to Omari and the 10 commands you should actually use and know. So, first of all, what is a Linux distro? Well, Linux is just the core, right? It's the Linux kernel. The DRO packs it with tools, apps, and desktop. So, it's everything bundled on top of that. So, it's the same core, the same Linux kernel, but with different flavors and different adaptations, right? You have Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, Omari, Red Hat. There's a lot, right? So, here are the big ones. Let's walk through them. Ubantu, it's based on Debian and it's best for servers, clouds, AI agents. Then you have Debian which is the original and this is a like rock solid servers. Fedora is based on Red Hat and this is the newest stable deck. Arch is based on its own. It's not based on anything and it's best for DIY always having the latest stuff and a lot of customizability. Omar Key is based on Arch Linux and it's like a beautiful desktop user friendly really built for agents. That's the main thing. What DHH is doing with Omar Key and I have a few more slides on this later. He's trying to make Linux more approachable and as configurable as possible so that people can easily migrate from Windows or Mac OS. Then you have Alpine. It's based on its own and it's best for tiny Docker containers. You have Linux Mint based on Ubuntu. This is for people leaving Windows. So let's talk through the two main ones you have to understand. Ubuntu and Omari. So for servers Ubuntu, right? It's absolutely the default choice. It's made by Canonicle the number one Linux in the cloud and they say it's over 60%. Obviously it's their own data but I think I believe it. So over 60% of all cloud and this is not just cloud agents. This is just any cloud hosting is running Ubuntu. The latest stable release is 26.04 4 and LTS is 5 years of free security updates. I think it stands for like lifetime support or something like that which means most guys and AI answers assume it and Ubuntu is very well known by the AI agents. So that's why I'm using Ubuntu for all of my VPSs. So where does it win? Right. Well, the beauty is Nvidia's AI machines such as DGX Sparks. They run Ubuntu and I personally own four DGX sparks for my local AI setup and 2604 also ships CUDA builtin which is huge for optimizing inference obviously. So the core tools like pseudo were rewritten in Rust which means they're faster. There's like more memory optimized less disk space and they have fewer security holes because Rust is a memory safe language. So Ubuntu is best for your VPS, your CI Docker GPU boxes. It's the same OS from laptop cloud. So you can cannot really go wrong with Ubuntu. Now the recently viral one, right? The most popping most viral Linux distro right now is Omari. Some people pronounce it Omari. Doesn't sound as good. It's like people who pronounce Hermes agent, Hermes agent. I don't care if it's the mainstream official pronunciation. Omari just sounds a lot better than Omari. So DHH is the creator of Ruby on Rails and this is his basically current focus. It's his its own take on Linux. Arc plus Hyperland beautiful out of the box built in with you know a lot of very opinionated with a lot of tools and uh things you need built in so you don't have to do as much configuring which by the way that was one of the worst parts about Linux. like you download Linux on your computer and then you have to spend 10 hours setting it up, right? And a lot of people don't want to do that and Omar Key is kind of the answer for that. So, it's built for the age of agents, right? You can ask AI to tweak literally anything, which is not possible on Windows and not possible on Mac OS. And by the way, my own prediction is that Apple has probably around 1 to 3 years to figure this out because if they don't make the iPhone and the MacBooks and all the, you know, Mac Studios more configurable, basically if they don't give us more access to iOS and Mac OS, people will just be switching to Linux, right? They will be switching to Omari or some other dro because who wants to change stuff manually in their settings. I mean, I just showed you with the VPS, right? Like I can go into cloud room again. All of this was without me doing a single toggle, without me doing any setting. This is just me talking to a frontier model running in cloud code harness and it can do everything. It can secure the VPS. It can uh update it. It can lock it down. It can enable the firewall. You could not do all these things on a Mac OS and Windows without having to go through settings and clicking endless buttons and understanding the UI. This is a tremendous value ad if you can control everything with AI agents. And that's why people you know are using instinct and muse grog bots to all their do all their tasks because it's just convenient. It's convenient having a agent on your phone that can do anything. The problem is iOS and Mac OS and Windows are heavily locked down. So if they don't open up in the next one, two, maybe three years, a lot of power users are just going to switch because it's insane value being able to voice prompt their agent and he can change anything about the computer. So that's an easy prediction for the future by the way. And as of today, it has over 46,000 stars on GitHub. I can just pull up the GitHub repo. Boom, there it is. Just going to make sure to start it. It's a great project and yeah, it's u being developed literally every day. It has hundreds of contributors. Multiple tech billionaires are sponsoring it. So, it has great support from some of the smartest people in tech. And yeah, this is uh probably the most popular Linux DRO as of 2026, like in terms of how fast it's growing, not the number of installs, because the other ones have been around for years. So, if you're planning to use Linux for your own personal computer, this would be my number one choice as of today. And by the way, now it also installs on M1, M2, and M3 Max. So, you can literally use your MacBook with Omar Key as the OS. So, inside of Omar Key comes Linux and Harland. So Windows style themselves and you drive it all by the keyboard and every setting is a text file. So cloud code, codeex, Hermes, all of them can restyle and update their entire operating system just by you asking. So this is best for developed laptops. 37 signals. This is DHH's company is moving its deaths of MacBooks onto it. And again Mac Apple has amazing hardware. This is something that Apple is the best in the world at how good their hardware is. But if they don't let us tweak the software and they don't give us more access, people are going to stop using Apple software because of how powerful AI agents are getting. So actually uh DHH announced that the M4, M5 and M6 support is coming. So no matter what Apple hardware you have, it's going to be supported on Omari. And now let me show you how to actually build the app, right? So here, let me switch to Cloud Room again. Cloud code with Opus 5.5. And really I have to stress this, use frontier models. Whatever is the latest and biggest model from open air or anopropic, just use that. Okay? Yes, you can optimize later and you know use smaller models for some simpler use cases but for your main work setting stuff up doing your main work use a frontier model please makes everything a lot easier so now we can just talk to it right he already has VPS access so I can say let's build a full stack web app for a new business and let's include proper like product tracking basically self-host the click house on this VPS as well and before we choose idea actually I want you to scrape the latest y combinator batch with deep API and just give me a list of the ideas they're currently funding. Even if you don't have an idea, you can just use deep API to scrape anything and research anything, which also makes your agents a lot more powerful. But yeah, while this is running, so basically step one is to build the app telling Opus 5.5 what you want in plain English. If you only use Codex, sure, you can use GPT 6.1 Soul. It's not as good. I'm just going to be very honest with you. Right now, GPT models are not as good as CL models. Maybe OpenAI releases 6.2 to Astra soon or 6.2 Soul. We'll see. But right now, Opus 5.5 is the best. Whatever app you want to build, obviously once you have tens of thousands of active users, probably a single VPS is not going to be enough. But like I'm telling you for like to start MVP to start most of your projects, you can host them on a VPS. And not only that, you can actually host multiple different things on VPS, multiple different websites, multiple different softwares. like a single Linux machine with the KVM2 plan is a lot more powerful than people realize. So you don't have to pay versell netifi railway render it's your server and you just control it with your agent and you can configure it exactly to your needs. Okay, so let's see what what it researched here. Which of these would be the best example to build a quick MVP right now? Just a quick and dirty prototype that's a full stack app with a database with product tracking, click house. Just give me the top five choices from this list. And by the way, you can just rebuild these startups in an afternoon, right? Like the mode is speed. If people are like, "Oh my god, David, what is the mode?" You know, what is the advantage? Speed. Your your own mindset and your attitude and your speed. How fast you can move. That's the mode. Okay. Five, dental booking app, insurance quotes. What was it? Says grocery pantry tracker, employee coaching app. Seen. Okay, first of all, I don't know what why combinator is funding. None of these seem like super revolutionary. A slightly different idea. I'm going to do massage booking app. Okay, it can be both for customers and for massage owners. Just build it as a simple MVP. Don't overthink it. The simpler the better. And make sure everything is deployed and hosted on this VPS. proper separation of front end, back end database and product analytics with Clickhouse. It's crazy how many products just are wrapper around click and they just don't really do anything except for collect your data and then charge you like hundreds of dollars a month or I mean that's another thing with with LLMs and with agents it's just easier to go for the best service, right? And whatever is the best value and the best product, you can make a much better educated choices with AI than without AI. And this really applies for no matter if you're shopping for clothes, no matter if you're shopping for a new car or if you're, you know, deciding what platform and software to use. Just consulting with a Frontier agent and Frontier model can like greatly reduce the odds of you making a bad decision. You can run many different things, automations, your NAN automations, make.com automations. You can like rebuild your own menus or instinct on a VPS. Maybe I'll make a video on that. Like a single VPS can easily handle all of that. And if you don't have a VPS in 2026, again, now is the best time to buy. As I mentioned, Hostinger is running a crazy discount with the Black Friday, it's going to be the first link below. But my point is, I'm trying to make every single month that goes by, and this has been true for last year and this year, I'm running more VPS than last month. I'm running more servers doing more different things for me. And maybe I can make a video on this as well, but like you can literally deploy Tailscale on them and have agents manage all of them in a very convenient way. So that's the next level. So if you're interested in that, just comment below and maybe I'll make a video on that. And by the way, if you're wondering what app I'm using right here to, you know, use cloth code, codeex, pie, Hermes, cursor, open code, FX, all these different harnesses in a single place, both on local and cloud. This app is Cloud Room. I've built it. It's open source and it's free. And I would say it's the best ADA in the world. In fact, we're about to pass 200,000 unique agents on Cloud Room. And it's the only app in the world that supports any harness as a cloud agent. And with Conductor being acquired by Meta and they're shutting down the cloud, I'm very confident that Cloud Room is the best option for cloud agents. It comes built in with cloud agents support. And again, we're the only ones in the world that have cloud agents available on the free plan. So if you're interested in using all of your latest models and you keep your favorite model, your favorite harness, your existing subscriptions, you use your existing subscriptions inside of Cloud Room, your inference and your tokens and all of them in a single place that supports both local and cloud agents. Just go to cloudroom.dev or I'm going to also link it below the video. And if you really like the project, please give it a start on GitHub. I would highly appreciate that. So let's see if our agent is finished. It he is finished. Wow. 3 minutes 30, guys. 3 minutes 30. Not only did he deploy it and set up the VPS, he also built it. So I guess open it as a new tab in my Brave browser. Just open it. You can literally tell stuff like this to your agent and he'll just open it. Boom, there it is. So yeah, very simple. Again, I'm running it on medium effort. So I can just give it a screenshot and say like redesign the front end to be a lot more custom, a lot more unique. Do your best work, make it a lot more bespoke. And you can just do that and then deploy it, right? So here we have the app with actually how many different services? Four separate services. Caddy, a small node API, posgress and click house all running on this VPS. So this agent built this MVP in 3 minutes 30 3 minutes 30 built the whole thing and deployed it on our own stack. Guys this is completely revolutionary when it comes to uh building software and hosting. All of these deployment platforms will have to adapt. It's really insane what's possible with the frontier coding agents Linux and just a single VPS. So now I'm telling it to just redesign it. Right. Actually wait I sent the wrong screenshot. I sent a screenshot of my other screen but it yeah it's a Frontier model. it understands my point. And by the way, inside of Cloud Room when I design, what I just do is like actually show me four different potential designs for what the landing page could look like. Use the skill designs, right? So what you can do is like you can tag a skill. I'm just going to delete that because I voice prompted it. But you can just do designs and you can tag any skill and the agent will just show it to you in line in the chat. Right? So again, all the features you already know from codeex or claw desktop or cursor, all the features you like such as sub aents, which by the way, I can just quickly show you in a new thread. launch 15 different sub aents each one with haiku 5.5 and have them analyze different marketing strategies that are currently working for SEO whatever doesn't need to be software development right it can be marketing it can be sales it can be research whatever you're doing with AI agents you can just launch separate sub aents for this each one running in cloud so you can see on the icon on the left there's a cloud agent meaning it runs in its own Linux sandbox okay not on my computer and I told it to launch 15 sub aents which he'll quickly launch bit below himself and each Each of these sub aents also runs in an isolated Linux sandbox. So Linux is really OP. It's powering Cloud Room. It's powering this Hostinger VPS. And boom, here it is. You can see how it's launching them. And normally my computer would start lagging if I'm running 15 instances of cloud code at once and I'm recording as well with OBS. But it's not lagging at all because these are running in the cloud. So even if I lose internet access, even if I close my computer, these will finish. And I can just tell it by the way, actually stop all of them right now. Now I want you to archive these and switch them instead to Codex. So start these sub agents as Codex CLI and use GBT 6.1 Terra instead as the model and launch them on the same task. Super simple plain English. All of this is possible inside of Cloud Room. You can tell him to switch the harness, right? The main agent is cloud code. These are haiku. But now I told him to archive them. So boom, he just archived all of them and he's going to relaunch them in a different harness. So you can use different agent for the manager or orchestrator and different one for the workers. And now he's relaunching them as Terra again. Each one in its own isolated sandbox. Each one running in parallel. Let's see. Okay, I'm just going to tell him stop them all. Now I'm just going to check if this guy's finished. No, he's still designing. Okay, I switched it to high reasoning effort so it makes sense. So we added the analytics, self-hosting, click house. It's it's really crazy how many people just upsell you on things that you don't know and how many of these products are just like built on top of friction and not actually building the best product. So I really think everything will be reinvented from scratch. And again you can just talk to your agent and say like I'm considering buying X. I'm considering hosting my software on X. I'm considering you know trying this software. Should I use it? What is it about? Is it the best? Is it the cheapest? Is there a you know better alternative that's more that's open source. Right? Again a lot of these deployment platforms are not open source. So yeah, let me see. So here's what the design looks like now. Oh my god, much better. Much much better. Let me reload. So you can see there literally two prompts, right? The first prompt was kind of basic and now this is proper. This looks better than 99% of massage places in the western world in in the world as a whole. Like legit go to any massage place in your town. It's going to be worse designed than this. Incredible. And again I I need to repeat this. All of this is hosted on a single Hostinger VPS. So if you don't have your own VPS now Hostinger is running the Black Friday sale with incredible discounts, especially on the 12 month and 24 month plans. So, if you still don't have your own VPS, click the first link below the video and just buy your first VPS from Hostinger. It could not be any simpler. And as you can see, once you give your agent access, look at these designs. It's incredible. You can just self-host an entire business on a single VPS. And all you do is talk to Plain English to Cloud Coder Codex and they manage it for you. So, yeah, it's never been a better time to use a VPS and it's never been a better time to buy one because of this Black Friday sale. So, again, go to Hostinger, click the first link below the video and get your own VPS today. And um hopefully you enjoy this video about Linux and yeah, I think it's really going to become more popular in the future. Might even be the most popular operating system for desktop use. So hopefully you found it valuable and I wish you a wonderful productive week. See you.
