😟 The fear of losing a job due to AI has already outweighed the hope for the emergence of new professions. Pew Research Center surveyed residents of 37 countries and found out: in 34 of them, people more often expect that in the next 20 years artificial intelligence will reduce the number of jobs rather than create new ones. Moreover, rich countries fear this most of all. The median proportion expecting job losses is 55% in high-income countries versus 36% in middle-income countries. In Australia, South Korea and the United States, about 70% of adults or more expect this scenario. Interestingly, greater familiarity with AI does not add to optimism: in about half of the countries studied, people who have heard and read a lot about this technology are more likely to predict job losses. And in a number of countries, young people aged 18–34 are especially afraid of this. Source
