Nazarbayev University (NU) presented the Soyle App, a large language model of the Kazakh language ISSAI KAZ-LLM and a startup of Artisan Education graduates for self-study of robotics and programming, DKnews.kz reports. The UK Educational Technology and Training Show (BETT Show), the world's premier EdTech event, hosts over 600 innovative booths each year promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing, as well as discussions on trending topics and unique workshops from leading edtech experts. This year's BETT Show takes place in London from 22 to 24 January 2025, bringing together over 30,000 educators, policy makers and EdTech enthusiasts from 130 countries. The exhibition features modern equipment for schools and colleges, software used in classrooms by teachers for teaching and assessment, education management systems and other resources needed to become successful in the educational field. Akh language ISSAI KAZ-LLM is designed based on a neural network for Kazakh, Russian and English languages with additional support for Turkish, which helps bridge language gaps and advance generative artificial intelligence for resource-constrained languages. The multifunctional Soyle App, created on the basis of the Kazakh speech model KAZ LLM, allows you to recognize speech, synthesize voice and instantly translate in Kazakh, Russian, English and Turkish. The ISSAI NU team has collected, processed, synthesized and translated more than 150 billion tokens (i.e. words or subwords), providing reliable language performance. The level of training at ISSAI KAZ-LLM is very high and competes in results in Kazakh, Russian and English at the level of world leaders in the field of artificial intelligence. KAZ-LLM, which will become the basis for the development of the Kazakh version of the GPT chat, can be used everywhere - from Kazakh language translations and content generation to processing large texts. The platform develops engineering thinking in schoolchildren, learning basic knowledge of programming and electrical engineering at the first stage; they gradually deepen their skills to IoT and AI projects thanks to a rapid prototyping board based on the Raspberry Pi Pico W microcontroller, developed by the startup independently. The team of the startup, founded in 2023, consists of 13 people, eight of them NU students, who over the years were participants in business incubation and acceleration programs at the university. The guys are already collaborating with more than 90 secondary schools in Kazakhstan and are successfully scaling to international markets, including Azerbaijan and the UK.
