Artificial intelligence has evolved over the past few years from a relatively niche technology to a mainstream digital tool. AI is used to search for information, work with texts and images, programming, studying, translations, creating music and solving work problems. The audience of the largest services already amounts to billions of visits per month, while the main traffic is still concentrated around universal chatbots. According to AITools.xyz, in June 2026, ChatGPT remained the most visited AI tool in the world, with more than 5.3 billion monthly visits. In second place is Gemini (1.1 billion visits), in third place is Claude (967.9 million). Next came Canva (759.8 million visits) and Google Translate (343 million). The top ten also included DeepSeek, Grok, JanitorAI, Character AI and Perplexity, Ranking.kz reports. Collectively, the 20 most popular AI tools from the ranking accounted for about 10.3 billion visits per month. More than half—51.6%—of this volume was provided by ChatGPT alone. ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude together accounted for 72% of the traffic of the entire top twenty. Overall, the seven chatbots in the top 20 generated 8.2 billion visits, or 79.2% of the total

indicator. At the same time, the AI market is no longer limited to universal chatbots. Among the most popular tools are services for design, translation, image and music generation, communication with virtual characters, project management, sales, note-taking and language learning. This shows that AI is gradually evolving from a distinct category of digital services to a technology that is embedded in a wide variety of products and platforms. When interpreting a rating, it is important to consider its methodology. AITools.xyz tracks over 10.5K AI tools across 171 categories, and web traffic data is an estimate based on information from services like SEMrush and Ahrefs. In addition, the indicator reflects site visits, not the number of unique users. The ranking also includes large multifunctional platforms such as Canva, Google Translate, Notion, Zoom and Duolingo, so all of their web traffic cannot be directly attributed to the use of AI functions. The development of artificial intelligence is accelerating in Kazakhstan. In the Government AI Readiness Index 2025, Kazakhstan took 58th place out of 195 and became a leader among Central Asian countries. The development of AI at the same time

relies on the already formed digital infrastructure: in the UN Electronic Government Development Index, Kazakhstan rose from 29th to 24th place and entered the top 25 countries, and according to the online services index, Kazakhstan is in the top ten. Artificial intelligence is already being directly implemented in government services. According to the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, AI is used in 16 government agencies and has been used to process more than 1.2 million citizen requests. The eGov AI service served about 850 thousand users and processed more than 2 million requests. At the same time, about 7 million people use mobile eGov every month. The use of specialized AI agents is also expanding. The national artificial intelligence platform is integrated with more than 120 government databases, and the platform itself runs more than 50 AI agents. In addition, the country is developing 308 AI agents for citizens and government employees. Some solutions are already working in specific areas: the AI agent Qazaq Law has provided more than 130 thousand legal consultations, and the AI therapist has been piloted in 38 clinics. At the same time, the country is developing its own computing infrastructure. Superk

The Alem.Cloud computer based on 512 NVIDIA H200 GPUs was launched in 2025. It ranks 104th in the June 2026 top 500 rankings with a performance of 20.5 PFlop/s. One of the key areas is the training of specialists. As of August 2026, 706 thousand students received basic knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence. 442 AI agents have already been developed and implemented in 80 universities across the country, with 980 team members involved in this work. In addition, a project is being implemented to implement ChatGPT Edu in Kazakhstani universities. Qazaq AI Research University should also start operating in September 2026. It is planned to accept about 600 students. The university will become another element of the emerging system of personnel training for the AI industry. At the same time, the country is developing its own language models KAZLLM, Sherkala and AlemLLM, and in August a specialized forum on the development of humanoid robotics and Embodied AI was held in Astana. AI technologies are rapidly spreading throughout the world. According to the Stanford AI Index 2026, the level of penetration of generative artificial intelligence among the population has reached approximately 53% in just three years, which is fast

triple the rate of spread of personal computers and the Internet. In 2025, 88% of organizations surveyed used artificial intelligence, and 70% of organizations used generative AI in at least one business function. At the same time, investments in the industry have increased sharply. In 2025, global corporate investment in artificial intelligence reached US$581.7 billion, an increase of 130% year over year. Private investment amounted to $344.7 billion, an increase of 127.5%. The leader in private investment was the United States with $285.9 billion, while in China the figure was $12.4 billion. However, comparing only private investments may lead to an underestimation of the total amount of AI funding in China due to the significant role of public investment funds. As access to core AI technologies becomes widespread, competitive advantage will increasingly be determined by the quality of their practical application. For Kazakhstan, the key will be whether the formed infrastructure can ensure productivity growth, the emergence of popular AI products and the development of technology companies capable of competing not only domestically, but also externally.
