The parties reviewed the prospects for the development of Kazakhstan as a regional platform of the WEF on artificial intelligence and digital transformation in Central Asia. Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiev met with representatives of the World Economic Forum Dietrich John and Marven Garbaa. Zhaslan Madiev presented proposals for cooperation, including the development of approaches to managing AI in the public sector, the development of data centers and the Data Embassy mode to host international digital infrastructure, as well as the introduction of AI in public administration based on Kazakhstan’s GovTech experience. Special attention was paid to the relationship between artificial intelligence, energy and infrastructure necessary for the development of the AI economy. The parties discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in this ecosystem, including the development of energy capacity and data centers, telecommunications infrastructure and international connectivity, as well as the role of critical minerals in building sustainable infrastructure for AI and technology value chains. There was also an exchange of views on the use of AI
in the energy sector and the possibilities of integrating Kazakhstan’s energy, digital and technological potential into the global AI ecosystem. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue in these areas of cooperation and work out further practical steps. WEF delegations also presented the scale and concept of the AI & Digital Bridge as an international platform bringing together leaders of the technological, digital and AI communities from Central Eurasia and other regions of the world. In this regard, representatives of the WEF were invited to consider participating in the upcoming forum, which will take place October 1–3 in Astana, as well as further interaction through future events and related initiatives. As part of the visit, the delegation also visited the International Center for Artificial Intelligence alem.ai, where they got acquainted with the emerging artificial intelligence and technology ecosystem in Kazakhstan, as well as with the work of Astana Hub, TUMO Astana and Tomorrow School.
