75% of domestic banks already use artificial intelligence in key business areas. AI is moving from experimentation to day-to-day operations of the financial sector. About 75% of banks in Kazakhstan already use it in credit scoring, anti-fraud and marketing, and use is gradually expanding from customer services to key internal processes. This is stated in the study “Fintech in Kazakhstan 2026”, presented by RISE Research. For comparison, according to the global State of AI in Financial Services (NVIDIA) report, 52% of financial organizations in the world use generative AI in their activities. At the same time, 76% of global players who have implemented AI record revenue growth, and 60% report a reduction in operating costs. Scaling technology in the banking sector of Kazakhstan is based on four key drivers: - An extensive customer base with a strong habit of digital finance and high penetration of mobile banking. — Diversification of business in the direction of high-margin digital services and transition to ecosystem models. — Market and regulatory pressure stimulating the growth of internal operational efficiency, development of p
claim management and compliance control. — Large investments in digital infrastructure, which formed the foundation for the implementation of applied machine learning models. In parallel, a transformation is taking place in the maturity stage of projects: the financial sector is moving from preliminary research to industrial operation. If in 2024 there were 31 organizations at the stage of early research, then in 2025 their number decreased to 22. At the same time, the number of practical implementations increased: the number of pilot projects increased from 4 to 13, and the number of organizations at the stage of partial implementation almost doubled - from 10 to 18. Full-scale implementation of AI was recorded by 2 financial organizations (versus 4 a year earlier). The main trend has been a fundamental shift in focus: machine learning algorithms are reoriented from client interfaces to internal operational tasks and development. The top 5 areas of application of AI at the end of 2025 included: - Operational activities - 21% of all respondents (almost double the growth compared to 11% in 2024). — Software development and information systems support — 18% (an explosive jump from 0% in 2024). — Risk management and compliance — 16% (increase from 14% a year earlier).
— Marketing and sales — 15% (compared to 11% in 2024). — Customer support — 14% (the only direction from the top 5 that showed a decrease in share from 16% in 2024). The implementation of AI in the financial sector of Kazakhstan has finally shifted from scenarios of simple interaction with clients to the technological core and optimization of internal back-office processes. As the report's authors note, regulatory changes allow banks to monetize their own technology platforms through BaaS and modular infrastructure. For fintechs and investors, the focus of value creation is gradually shifting from transaction volume to proprietary data, trusted infrastructure and scalable platform models.
